We would love help and support from parents. If you have any comment you'd like posting on this website, please let us know.
Fees: Smarties sets its fees at a level to cover costs and allow for provision to replace worn equipment/toys and to invest in new resources. We believe in quality provision from staff, so only employ KPs at Level three and we have low staff:children ratios. This is why we earned 'Outstanding' grades from OFSTED, and why parents recommend us.
We do need your help and understanding that in order to keep fees low and quality high, we need your children to attend for a minimum amount of hours per week - this is currently 9 hours at £4 per hour. This means we have less children attending, so KPs have less paperwork and more time with your children.
The manager appreciates that not all families may be able to afford this minimum amount, so please ask about any 'spare places' which may be available at the beginning of September (we operate on an academic year entry basis), where we may be able to agree with 6 hours to start with, on your promise to increase the next term.
TOTS
We may also offer Tots sessions to wean younger children into Smarties; these may be shorter hours of 6 hrs per week between 1pm-3pm. Please register so we understand interested numbers.
Please add your child to our waiting list, as if we are over-subscribed, those registered first may get priority.
Parents as Students
If you've always fancied working with children, ask whether Smarties could offer you a placement and source funding for free study. You'll need to have worked in a setting for around 6 months before you can start your study. If you're unsure, just ask if you can ome in and help us first, see what it's really like (paperwork and cleaning are part of the job too!) then have a chat about how suitable the manager thinks you'll be.
Sibling Children at Great Meols Primary?
If you'd like your children to be together, before and after school, ask about our Breakfast Club and Walking Bus for Primary children. From £3 per morning, they can both be together.
If you need after school care, the manager can arrange Childminders for you - she knows them well and their reputations, but you must check them out your self first!
