Please complete an 'All About Me' booklet before your child starts. This gives us some information to help us form a relationship and commence the planning process. Weekly Activity Plans are displayed for you to see what we are doing and these will be tailored to your child’s individual needs, interests, capabilities and understanding over the days they are in attendance. Please discuss what and how your child has learned with their Key Person at the end of the session or at parent/teacher interviews.
Your child’s Key Person will make regular written observations and assessments, which will go into your child's Learning Journals after their 'All About Me' information. A Summary Grid will log everything we learn about your child and if we don't see a particular area of development, we'll ask if you've seen it at home and give you ideas to support learning so your child achieves to their capabilities.
Parents are assured of confidentiality at all times; see our Confidentiality policy.
Parental Involvement
If you have a special skill, interest or job role that could be involved as part of a theme at the school, please let us know, as this contributes greatly to children’s knowledge and understanding of the world.
Similarly, if you would like to contribute to the school, by means of fundraising, helping with activities, providing materials for activities, making story-sacks or dressing-up clothes, or simply helping with displays, outings or coffee mornings, then a big thank-you will be in store! Please complete a ‘Parental Help’ form.
One of the greatest helps is for you to cut up scrap paper or material for everyday collage workshops.
Key Person
Your Key Person (KP) will normally be Level Three qualified, which means they can work unsupervised, make their own decisions and plan for each unique child. However, please talk to your Manager or Deputy if you have concerns. All KPs are trained in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, have enhanced CRB checks and gain other certificates for attending local Sure Start courses.
Manager
Your manager is qualified and experineced in business and childcare, education and playwork and is passionate about giving young children the best start in life. Research shows that 0-5 years is the most important time to get social stimulation and ensure communication techniques are learned for the future.
