Is Smarties closed due to snow and ice ?

We will always try to open!

Please do not try to phone or text - as in the past everyone has tried to phone or text which has stopped the manager trying to sort things out! Please try the website for communications.

 There is the chance that not all staff will not be able to get in after snowfall, and we won't know until the morning they try!

Following circumstances in January 2010, parents and staff agreed the following procedures for future policy, (should staff numbers be reduced, we need legal ratios of adults to children):

- Those children who pay in advance for their session have priority over funded-children.

- Those children whose parents must make it into work and are therefore relying on us to care for their children, have priority over those who can look after thier own children at home (you could offer to stay and help us out with ratios).

 - Those children whose Key Person cannot make it in, stay at home unles the above applies.

If Great Meols Primary is closed, then the Walking Bus will not be operational (obviously!) and so the Breakfast Club won't be operational either for them.

Heart radio/website will keep you updated of school closures.

Unless you really need us, Breakfast Club and Lunch Club may be cancelled (in the past there's only been 1 or 2 children in, so your child may not have anyone to play with!) as the additional staff may not be able to get in to cover these Clubs.

We won't be able to refund fees for closures relating to an act of nature, but if you are terribly unhappy about this - please let us know.

Whever possible, we will try to operate from another site temporarily e.g. another local church hall, shoul;d our building be unsuitable e.g. due to water failures.
